Another Round

For some reason I've decided to give this blog another try.  Maybe it's because some friends keep asking for accounts of life here in the mountains, or maybe it's because after looking at the blog for the first time in a long time I am ashamed to say that I posted a total of three times in the last two years!

Whatever the reason, I'm not convinced that I have anything insightful or profound to say, but do recognize it can be a fun way to share stories and thoughts when the cell phone doesn't work and mail might not go out if there is a snow storm!

Overall, life here is as mundane as it comes this time of year.  Most of the locals have departed either for the entire winter or until after Christmas, no tourists are coming through because both Yellowstone Park and the Beartooth Highway are closed, and nothing is open after 5:00pm (literally) with only a couple businesses open during the day.  As for recreation, there is not enough snow to ski, snowshoe, or snowmobile.  And a grizzly sow with two cubs has been seen in my neighborhood, so tromping through the woods by myself seems a bit eerie.  At any rate, it gives me time to figure out what it is I'm supposed to be doing as a pastor of a church and think about how I got myself into this situation!  In the meantime, I'll try to Find the Magic in the Mundane, which starts with having my first moose come to the salt lick out my kitchen window!
