Monday #3

Today marks the start of my third week of living here in the parsonage.  Yesterday was the smallest congregation yet.  Nine people.  I am trying not to map a correlation between the decrease in number of people and the increase of time spent here!  I think, rather, that I can blame it on the snow that hasn't stopped falling now for several days, the roads being closed, many people in Arizona or New Mexico for a month or two, and Sunday being a forced "trip to town" (the 3 hour drive - one way) to gather supplies for Thanksgiving celebrations in the mountains!  I think they are all legitimate.  The numbers will continue to go up again after Thanksgiving as people return from their vacations and come for Christmas.  Nonetheless, nine people and myself was a good number and God was there in our midst.  There is a joy in the people of this church like I have seen in only one other - King of Grace, my church in Massachusetts.  They are truly a community of believers in the midst of broken and impoverished lives here.

At the same time, however, our Bible Study numbers are at, what I am told to be, record numbers!  Last week there were eight people and myself, and rather than cancel it for this week because of Thanksgiving, they all pushed to have it and simply move it a day earlier!  How cool is that?!  I will write more about Bible Study sometime later.  I wish we had them every day!

On another note, I woke up to Bison tracks three feet from the front of my house last night.  He was checking me out!
