More updates to come, but first, here are some photo highlights of this past year.
Kamakazee Kim came to visit. She has now, as of last week, deployed to Afghanistan for another tour of duty. This is her first as a member of the Army Reserves.
One of the more memorable events of this 2015-2016 school year was the November Wind Storm of last fall that destroyed Spokane, or at least created massive amounts of destruction in and around Spokane. Electricity was cut to over half of its residences, some of which lacked lights and heat for seven days. Whitworth itself lost over 100 trees, many of which were the towering Ponderosa Pines that forested the center of the campus.
Christmas tree shopping on Forest Service land with two dear friends, Jonathan and Stacey. Jonathan is a colleague in the Theology department and his lovely wife makes sure the Art program at Whitworth runs smoothly.
At Christmas I returned via Amtrack to Minnesota. Here's a shot going through Glacier National Park at dawn. It was stunning.
While home I saw these two clowns.
Over Spring Break in March, mom came to visit and we made a road trip up to Banff, Canada. It was the perfect time to be there: few tourists, snowcapped mountains, dry snow-less ground, cross-country skiing on Lake Louise, and plenty of sunshine all around.
One morning I made mom get up and head out on a hike while it was still pitch black outside. We made it to the top of the mountain for a less-than-glorious sunrise, but a beautiful start to the day nonetheless.
Obviously much more happened this year than the few stories these photos tell. But these were definitely some of the highlights.
