Summer Solstice and A Never Ending Spring

At the winter solstice last winter it was a high of 54 degrees.  It was about the exact same at the summer solstice a few days ago.  I’ve been cold now for nine months, and am beginning to believe that Scotland really has just one season: spring… sometimes cold and wet, sometimes warm and dry, but spring nonetheless.  The leaves fell off the trees last ‘autumn’, but winter never came.  Flowers were in bloom all winter.  And summer seems to be refusing to come also.

The one major difference between the two days is the amount of daylight.  At the winter solstice, the sunrise was at 8:45am and the sunset was at 3:35pm.   At the summer solstice last week, the sunrise was around 4:20am and the sunset around 10:10pm.  There’s enough light in the sky these days to make reading in bed quite easy!  Perhaps a wee sma bit too easy!
