An Asian Man's Challenge

How could nearly four months have passed since my last post?  It was still white outside then!  Much, much, much has been crammed into these last four months, so much that I can barely remember it all!  The summer has flown by, and I'm ready for a breather.  In a matter of weeks the population shifted from about 70 people to over 300 at any given time.  The snow birds returned, opened their homes, and inundated the businesses.  Wonderful people they are.  I've really enjoyed getting to know them this summer.  As hard as it is to believe though, several have already started returning home for the winter!  And many more will follow in the coming weeks.  It will be nice to "have the town back," but I will miss them.

I was challenged by a random Asian tourist who could barely speak English the other day to make a photo journal of each day of my time here.  He challenged me to take a picture each day of something in the town and then to write one page about it.  Even the most random and seemingly unimportant objects or scenes will do, such as the moose on the wall in the restaurant I've waitressed in this summer, or the bear-proof garbage cans that line the street.  I'm not disciplined at all with journaling, or even with taking pictures and documenting, so I think I'm going to take up his challenge.  I don't really have time for it yet, but I will do my best, and someday soon I will have the time again... when all the snow birds have returned and the tourists have stopped.  I'm staying in this incredible place until May, so here's to eight months of photo journal blogging!

And now that I've spent all my time redesigning the look of this blog, I need to start writing my bible study!  Maybe I'll post a real journal entry with a picture later today.  Maybe.
