St Andrews in Focus: Day 10

Lions head door knockers are quite common around St Andrews and, I imagine, throughout the UK.  If I remember correctly, I’ve also seen them in New England, which would make sense if they were brought over with the English settlers.  Supposedly they have been in use for over two millennia throughout Europe, but that’s unconfirmed.  At a minimum, having a lion stare you down as you approach a door is not a new experience.
