Grüß Gott!

I arrived in Germany over one week ago and, somehow, despite The Autobahn, the bowls of unpasteurized cheese (which are illegal in the US), and the raw sausages, I am still alive!  This post won’t contain much as it’s nearly time for breakfast here and, if I don’t get something out to you now, it may not happen in the near future.  All is well here in Königstein im Taunus, Deutschland.  My German is improving, I think (my hosts may say otherwise).  They have shown me different sights in this region of Germany, generously fed me wonderful food, and endured my attempts at forming German sentences out loud at the rate of one word per minute second.   My time here is half over and there are thousands upon thousands of words yet to learn.  I’m thinking they won’t all fit into this trip!

The weather, other than on one day, has been rather grim.  The weatherman told us one night that this has been the cloudiest January in decades.  Great timing, Haley.  Low lying clouds have formed the backdrop for what is otherwise a very picturesque town of approximately 18,000 people.   Supposedly the sun will be shining all day tomorrow, and if so, I will hopefully get out and get some decent pictures of this very traditional German town.  Until then, hopefully these will tide you over!

I hope you are well!  Send a note when you can!
