Le Boulanger

August 15 is the Day of the Assumption, which means that it is a national holiday in France; and on that day, students such as myself here at the Institut Catholique de Paris have no class.  To make up for these three lost hours most classes have tacked an additional hour of teaching to each Wednesday class.  Luckily, I have a fabulous teacher who felt it more prudent to take her students on a field trip to le boulanger (the bread baker) owned by her uncle than to make them suffer through provide them with three additional hours of classroom lessons.

So this afternoon we went on a field trip to one of the many Parisian bakeries, which specializes in the traditional French baguette and croissant.  It was a blast!

A pain au chocolate.  So fabulous.

Croissants ready for the oven.  I think the baker said that they make 500 croissants each day, and a much larger number (that I didn’t comprehend) of baguettes.

And finally… my own personal pain au chocolate.  It was délicieux!!

Come to Paris and you can have one of your own!
