Throughout the last three weeks Cooke City has turned into a Lazarus... dead one moment and alive the next. Between Santa and the snowmobilers coming to town, along with summer folks back for a week or two of winter fun, and extended families of those living here year-round, the STREET is crowded! I am not complaining though... a little life is very welcomed, even if I can't find a place to park and almost get mauled by snowmobiles with drivers not watching where they are going and can't hold conversations with people indoors because the roar of the engines is too great. Still... life is good.
Because there is simply no time to mention everything that has happened out here in the last three weeks, I'll just give a quick synopsis.
- told Santa what I wanted for Christmas
- cross-country skied again!
- took a snowmobile/car trip to Cody, WY to visit college friend Kristen for a few days
- while there, shot a handgun for the first time and played Wii for the first time!
- held a Christmas Eve town potluck
- organized and conducted a Christmas Eve service
- skied on Christmas Eve, Christmas morning, and New Years Eve @ midnight under a beautiful blue moon!
- prepared what seemed like many sermons in only a very short time
- had many breakfasts, lunches, and dinners at peoples' homes
- shoveled and shoveled and shoveled
- drove a stick shift by myself for the first time through Yellowstone
- only killed it once!
- got the truck stuck :(
- had people from the church as overnight guests
- danced the night away with the Texas Two-Step, Three Step, and Western Swing at the local bar!
- and so much more!
This doesn't really seem like much now that I write it out, but somehow, together they seemed to fill every waking moment of my days these last few weeks! I hope it continues!
Soon, I'll be making a weekly snowmobile trip out of town to a small community 20 miles or so outside of Cooke City, cut off from the church because of the road closure. I'll bring Bible Study to them once a week and have some play time away from Cooke City each week! Possibly even this week!
