I see it has been a while since I posted anything here. Needless to say, life has been just a bit crazy over the last couple weeks... and there is no end in sight. But, thanks to my good friend Kristin, I have been persuaded to write a bit of something here. So, here is a very general update on the last couple weeks of my life.
I have two praises to write about...
1. I found a home church which I am absolutely thrilled about! It is a small church plant in a small town about thirty minutes north of here. The church is a Sovereign Grace church, which VERY simply put, is known for being a denomination that is both charismatic and Reformed--a beautiful picture in my eyes! They have totally welcomed myself and my three friends who are attending with me into their congregation, and have gotten us plugged into a great Wednesday night care group. I absolutely love it and them!
2. I leave for Florida in just over four days! Hooray! I am going down to Fort Myers to watch spring training baseball with my mom and aunt from Minnesota! And the best part is that I don't have to pay for anything! Praise Jesus!
And now for a couple frustrating things...
1. I plan on working in Yellowstone National Park this summer and just this week received my job position. I will be working in housekeeping, which is lame. I was really hoping to have a position that allowed me to work with the guests that come through, but I guess that wasn't the Lord's plan. I do realize though, that I will have a great ministry working side by side with many other employees who do not know the Lord. So I am still looking forward to it.
2. I had been planning on spending next spring studying in Jerusalem for a semester abroad, but this week found out it is not going to work with my degree. I tried to jump through every loop hole possible, but to no good end. Sad.
3. This past weekend I got into a bit of a roudy snowball fight of guys against girls. At the end, some boy (actually, a good friend, and a Minnesotan!) kindof threw me to the ground (like we were all doing) and in the process, I tore my medial miniscus, which for the first several hours I was calling "miniscule" (that one's for you Brett!) in my right knee. So I spent Saturday afternoon at the ER (after having been dragged there by two good friends), only to find out that there was too much swelling to see anything in the x-rays. I go back on Wednesday morning to do the tests again and see how bad the tear is. The doctor wasn't hopefull though... and surgery might be a good posibility in the coming months. So now I hobble around with a brace and crutches and feel bad asking people to do things for me. More often than not though, people are asking me if they can do something for me before I can even ask them. So... praise God for great friends!
4. I applied to be a Greek TA for next year this past week. My chances are slim to none seeing as though I have had about one less year than all the other applicants. But there was still a chance. That is... until this morning when I took an exam on participles. I hate participles! I don't know how I did, but I don't think it was star quality, which is basically a requirement in order to be a TA. We'll see, but I'm not hopefull anymore.
So... that has been about the last week of my life here. I can't wait for Florida! I just hope I don't have to have the brace or crutches anymore!
Ha, sounds like a fun week. Thanks for the miniscule comment! Hope things are going well and you are not too bogged down finishing projects (oh how I remember April!). Hope the knee heals soon.
ReplyDeleteWe are praying for you.

I am full of hope that someday you will learn how to spell "hopeful"
